Knickers, Be Damned!

Look. Red woolly knickers, all done and got the elastic all sewed in and everything. They look exactly like the pattern picture, imagine that. The fit's pretty snazzy, so far as I could tell in my fevered Nyquil-induced purple haze, except the original measurements are for a much shorter woman. The waistband comes about hip level making them a lot less grandma-bloomerish and more hipster boy-shorts style. Don't ask me why I decided to go with the vintage pattern measurements rather than my own real ones, but there ya go.

Pics when I can actually stand up without wobbling over. Prepare to point and laugh!

You'll notice that the yarn was from two different fucking dyelots, despite me ordering them at the same time. You'd think I'd have noticed the difference in the colors while I was knitting them? Noooo. But the flu has given me previously unknown powers of color detection and I discovered the difference while I was deleriously sewing them together on Friday.

So they'll get overdyed with black, I suppose. Landscapes makes some damn snazzy dyes so I guess I can dye the white Nature Spun yarn at the same time and then knit the vest that goes with it.

I wanted them black anyhow. Grump. Posted by Picasa

Those are absolutely smokin' knickers! I can't see any difference in color either. You updated them a la hipster.

(By the way, was Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" classic about Nyquil?)
